Thanks.

It currently uses the default browser. It would be great if it can be configurable to launch the web-mail in a specified browser different from the default browser.

Some web-mail sites work better in one browser than another. Some people use a different browser for mail than the rest of the browsing. One reason is security as a lot of websites track across domains.

Thanks
But i was wondering if the "Content" wording in Firefox Tools Options under Applications for Mailto should read C'\Program Files (x86)\gmailfaultmaker\etc instead of USE AOL MAIL?

I never saw a "setup" for Gmaildefaultmaker. Nothing happened after the download and some short version of an install. It was not listed in my Programs at Start, nor on my Desktop. So I went to c:\Programs to find it. When I click on the applications, it opens a Compose window for AOL in my browser.

Did it install correctly? It's working correctly so perhaps it's not supposed to say Use Aol Mail.

It's just that a few months ago I clicked on something that asked if I wanted my default to be AOL Mail and that set up an additional Mailto option saying Use AOL Mail. I loved it. But when Firefox did it's automatic upgrade, it disappeared. I tried contacting AOL but they were not able to help at all, although they tried very hard...

Yes, I will look into it as soon as possible tomorrow evening. The second issue will be easy to fix. I'll investigate the first issue.

New Post: Hotmail Not Working

When I click on a mailto: address, it brings up my Hotmail web site with a new message to be composed then it puts the right email address in the to: field then it disappears from the to: field.

Also, when I use a shortcut email key on my keyboard that is setup to bring up my default email handler, it brings up the correct Hotmail web site but then composes a new message with a "sample" to: address and the following in the message body:
Thank you for using GmailDefaultMaker. This is a testing message that is shown when you run the mailto handler application directly.

So, in summary, thank you for your DefaultMaker. It's doing most of what I need. But can you suggest any ways to clear up the above issues?

Thanks,

Hi Hahnfeld, in my instance with the same environment and variations of the url Outlook keeps opening when an email address is clicked. So it seems there are two issues specific to Windows 7 x64 that needs a look at. -C

New Post: Google Apps?

Thanks everyone for the thoughts.

I continue to the same issue, regardless of the variation of the url string.

I am running 64 bit Windows 7 & all paths lead to a "Gmail Signup" window when I click a mailto: link.

Curiously, I am running Chrome & somebody suggested Google's "Send Using Gmail" extension.

That does not seem to impact things either, even though it has explicit support for Apps.

Stumped.
